Superbowl 6 SD 1.1

Well ladies and gents another season has drawn to a close in the SD 1.1 league; and with it a two time champion is born as the Nova Gamblers handled business against the Leeds Celtics by a final of 27-6. Lets take a look at some of the highlights shall we. The Celtics would take the lead early in the first with a 29 yard chipshot from kicker Jakob Holec. Early on it appeared as though the Celtics stout defense would hold up but the second quarter would be a much different story as Gambler QB Dimka would find a wide open Radovic for an 11 yard touchdown strike; and then come back with 4 minutes left in the 1st half and find Dudukovic who would slip the tackle of Shearer and find some paydirt from 12 yards out. At the half the Celtics would find themselves down 14-3. Our new reporter Star who just joined yesterday; spoke with GM's Cantalupe of the Gamblers and JohnnyP of the Celtics. Here is her interview with GM JohnnyP.

Star: A disappointing loss for GM JohnnyP and the Leeds Celtics in Superbowl VI. If you don't mind Johnny we wanted to get your take on the loss and what you felt was the contributing factor.

GM JohnnyP: It was a tough loss indeed; I feel bad for the fans who stuck with us all season long; but you know heartbreak has to occur for one team right? But honestly its hard to blame just one factor on the loss overall it was a disastrous performance all around for us especially on offense; we just couldn't move the ball like we wanted to and when we needed big plays they weren't there. But you have to give a lot of credit to the Gambler's D, they played a hell of a game and quite honestly they deserve to be the champs this season.

Star: Speaking of big plays; who made the call to go for it on 4th down inside the 20 early in the fourth quarter?

GM JohnnyP:  I actually made that call; I felt we needed to convert being as far back as we were; a field goal was out of the question in that situation.

Star: Possibly the biggest question would be who in your opinion failed to perform on the team?

GM JohnnyP: If I had to pick one guy I'd say it would be Johnny Royal; our O-line did a great job today but honestly he ran more like Michael Turner; rather than Arian Foster. Our secondary has been a problem for us all year; especially with the youngsters; but in all fairness they got us as far as they did and that's commendable.

Star: So with all that in mind; what are your plans for Season 7?

GM JohnnyP: Mostly train the skills that I have been neglecting on my team these past few seasons. I've been more worried on keeping salaries low that I've neglected the skills that truly matter; plus replacing those that have come to my office and personally made it known that they are calling it quits.

Star: Thank you JohnnyP; and just joining me now is winning GM Cantalupe; first off congratulations on being a two time champion; and secondly how did you feel about your team's chances coming into SB VI?

GM Cantalupe: Thank you Star; it feels great to be a winner again; and I knew we would have a good chance to win; although i did expect a much closer game; especially with 2 of my CB's being injured right before the game; but it all worked itself out in the end.

Star: So with that being said who was the biggest factor in the victory here tonight?

GM Cantalupe: I'd have to say my entire D-line; shutting down Johnny's run game at I think it was roughly 2.2 yards a carry; and then shutting down the fourth and 1 I believe it was; ultimately sealed the win for us.

Star: Now if you had to pick the keys to the season and the game what would they be?

GM Cantalupe: For the game I would have to say that the D-tactics on our side were spot on compared to what JohnnyP's offense was running. Mostly the season came down to the new rules that were put in place to help the pass game this year. I cannot comment on what those changes were; but they would have been obvious to any fans watching.

Star: Thank you for your time GM Cantalupe
